FIRST ACT OF NEXT YEAR'S SHOW COMPLETE!

After a long procrastination, I buckled down and finished the first act of next year's musical for the Lehamn Engel workshop in Glendale. The composer and myself will begin work on the score next week sometime, and I;m so excited I can't tell you! This is the culmination of a decade's worth of work, trying to find an angle on the homeless issue that would sustain the interest of a paying theater audience without preaching to or depressing them. The second year starts in September, and by then we'll be way ahead of the other projects in development. I'll keep you updated on the progress. So far it's about 11 songs and 20 or so pages of book with 5 main characters.

AH, THE BEACH.
A roommate and I are going to practice ana ct for the Third Street Promenade in Santa Monica. He plays drums, flute, and thumb piano, and I will read bad poetry in front of the bookstore near Wilshire this Saturday sometime.

SCREENING OF MINI-MUSICAL TONIGHT!
I finally have a tape of the final assignment in the workshop, and I'm going to play it for the residents of my building here in Venice. The lyricist, composer and I are very proud of the work. It's called, 'OUT OF HAND', and it runs about 11 minutes. I'll post reviews and feedback very soon. It's also the first time I've ever written book, being a lyricist myself, but it was very rewarding if a bit thankless, because once the book is done, you're done until the music's written. The most exciting challengfe I had was rewriting the opening when the original was vetoed for technical reasons. I think it came out very well.
